Julianne Maida-Braziel, Administrative Dance Company Director

JULIANNE MAIDA-BRAZIEL is currently the Dance Company Director of the Stratford Academy of Dance  and with the school, instructs the Senior Level Dance Companies. In 2005, Julie instituted the first Connecticut Chapter of the National Dance Honor Society in conjunction with the National Dance Association and the NSHSS, also known as the “Nu Delta Alpha”.  Stratford Academy of Dance is the Host to this first chapter and with the NDA, Julie is the Chapter Advisor and has been awarded Professional Membership.  Julie is a graduate of the Hartford Conservatory of the Arts with a degree in Dance Pedagogy.  She continued her education at various schools and programs throughout NYC and North Carolina and  continues her studies under Masters from NYC, Hartford, Texas and L.A.       Recent credits include:  For Bridgeport CT Playhouse on the Green/Artsport; Dance instructor for  Youth and Teen theatre Programs 2002-2006 and choreography  for  workshops.  Shows include, “Into the Woods”, “Babes in Toyland”, “The Wizard of Oz”, and “Honk the Musical.”   For Fairfield Rotary and other local theatre, ”Come on Let’s Jazz” Follies 2005, and “Aint Misbehavin’ Follies 2006,”Big River” 2005, “Carousel”  2006, “My Fair Lady”, 2007, and “The Wiz”, 2008.   Julie was a CT representative for the “All American Dance Team” and  with them performed the opening number for NBC’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC.  She was on the National Summer Tour of Hoctors Dance Enterprises as Coordinator for their touring dance company “ Caravan Kids”.  Also on tour she taught and performed with Master Instructors and Choreographers.  Julie has instructed recreational and dance company classes for the school, “Ballet Arts” in North Carolina, as well as other CT area schools.     She  has received numerous  awards over the years from various Regional and National Dance Competitions, for “ Top Teacher”, “Best Choreography” annually from 1997 to present, and “Most Entertaining”. Her Senior Dance Company has been Ranked Nationally in Dance Spirit Magazine and her students have been showcased in Art Gallery shows and various performance venues throughout CT, most recently on stage with recording artist Dan Zanes (known on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel) at the Schubert Theatre in New Haven CT. She wrote, co-directed and choreographed the full length play “Forsaken”, in 2004 at the Stratford Theatre in CT.  Julie currently judges for regional dance competitions throughout New England.
