Tonya Colpitts, Guest Instructor, Ballet, Modern, and Lyrical
Tonya Colpitts has been dancing for many years, beginning ballet training at a very young age and continuing with ballet, modern, and lyrical dance training for over twenty years. Most recently, she has been a ballet and modern dancer with the Starship Dance Troup, performing in the Magic Toy Shop and the Rebound Dance Festival. Tonya was also a principal dancer with Galveston Ballet Company, where she enjoyed roles as the Emerald Fairy and Temperance Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Soloist Shade, Shade Pas de Trois and Pas de Caractere in La Bayadere, Lead Naiad and Tarantella in Napoli, Mercedes in Don Quixote, Spanish Dancer, Chinese Dancer and Snow Queen in the Nutcracker, among others. Variations performed include Kitri solos (Don Quixote), Paquita, Swanilda (Coppelia), Carmen, Giselle, Medora (Le Cosaire) and the dying swan from Swan Lake. She has also danced with Idaho State Ballet, Granite State Ballet, Mesa Dance Company of San Diego and others. Tonya is very excited to be a guest teacher and hopes to impart her love and enjoyment of ballet to her students while improving their technique and helping them grow as dancers.
